Xanga can’t be googled
I guess because of some technical reasons like xanga is dynamic or something, xanga can’t be googled.
So if I know I wrote a post about something 2 years ago, I can’t search for it on google. The xanga search feature is really crappy for some reason.
This is sad because if xanga ever dies, my xanga will die too. Other blog thingies like blogger can be googled. So even if the blogger fad dies, you can still get readership through search engines.
Xanga seems to be on its way down, just from the amount of activity. I checked my subscriptions this morning and there was only one new entry since the last time I read it (Friday morning.) I know weekends are slow usualy for xanga, but I still think that’s kinda sad.

The youth at my church said that they mostly use myspace and facebook now. They said that only old people still use xanga. =) I asked them if they use the blog on myspace, and they said no… they don’t really blog much anymore. They talk to each other directly, like writing on facebook walls.

yeah it sucks that xanga can’t be googled.
And it’s sad that xanga is on its way down. I really value reading xanga subscriptions and I really enjoy knowing what people are up to by reading their thoughts and looking through their pictures.
myspace and facebook just aren’t the same. The interface on myspace sucks and facebook is great for keeping in touch, but not for posting long written entries.

I agree with both those evaluations… the younger people seem to be into Facebook and MySpace, but neither of those are good mediums for posting blogs. I tend to think it’s not so much an issue of xanga going down as it is that blogging in general is starting to succumb to the culture’s tendency toward thoughtless sound-biting.

Noooo….long live xanga!!! I’ll be a xanga lifer, cause I think you get substantially more intellectual stimulation from xanga posts than the typical “lol..see you tomorrow” MySpace/Facebook page.

I agree with Yee, Long live xanga! It can’t be replaced by MySpace or Facebook… and other online blogs just can’t compare. People just need to find time to post or stop holding back. I admit I love Facebook, but I’m still loyal to xanga… sometimes there isn’t much to write, but gotta keep peddling thru
